Short answer
Metropolmed provides medical interpreters who accompany you at consultations, tests, treatment days and check-ups in Istanbul. Interpreters speak English, French, Italian, Spanish, Romanian, Russian, Turkish and more, and the service is included in every package. Your coordinator also stays in touch in your language after you return home.
What's included
A medical interpreter is included in every Metropolmed package and is present at each of your appointments. They interpret between you and the doctors, nurses and anaesthetists, and help with forms and consent documents.
Interpreters are part of the Metropolmed team and are familiar with medical vocabulary and our treatments. They work alongside your personal coordinator, who looks after your schedule and practical needs.
Interpreters do not give medical advice themselves. Their role is to pass on exactly what you and the medical team say, accurately and without changing the meaning, so decisions are always made between you and your doctor.
- Interpreting at consultations, tests and treatment
- Help understanding consent forms and aftercare instructions
- Support on the ward during hospital stays
- Follow-up messages in your language for 12 months
How it works step by step
Your language is noted from your first contact, and the right interpreter is assigned before you travel. Your hotel, VIP transfer and medical interpreter are arranged before you land.
If you have hearing difficulties, prefer written notes, or would like a family member to receive updates in their language, tell us before you travel and we will plan for it.
- Tell your coordinator which language you prefer
- Meet your interpreter at your first clinic appointment
- Go through your consultation and tests together
- Have your interpreter with you on treatment day
- Review aftercare instructions before you leave
- Keep in touch in your language after you go home
For companions
Your companion is welcome to join consultations and hear the same explanations, so you both understand the plan and aftercare. This is useful when your companion will help care for you at the hotel and at home.
If your companion speaks a different language from you, let your coordinator know in advance and we will discuss the options.
Why it matters for recovery
Clear communication is part of safe care because you need to understand your treatment, its risks and your aftercare instructions. Misunderstanding how to take medication, clean a wound or when to rest can affect your recovery.
With an interpreter present, you can describe symptoms accurately, ask questions without hesitation and give properly informed consent. It also reduces stress, which matters when you are far from home and about to have treatment.
Patient privacy is respected throughout. Interpreters are bound by the same confidentiality as the rest of the medical team, so you can speak openly about your health, medicines and concerns.
Good communication continues after you leave Istanbul. When you send photos or questions during your 12 months of follow-up, the answers come back in the language you are comfortable with, so nothing is lost between you and the medical team. This makes it easier to spot problems early and to follow your aftercare correctly at home.
