Short answer
Vaser liposuction is ultrasound-assisted liposuction: sound waves loosen fat cells so they can be removed gently while surrounding tissue is largely preserved. It usually takes 2 to 3 hours under general anaesthesia or sedation, often with one night in hospital. Most patients stay in Istanbul for 4 to 5 days and return to desk work within about a week.
What is Vaser liposuction?
Vaser liposuction is a technique that uses ultrasound energy delivered through thin probes to break up fat before suction. Loosened fat comes out more easily, which allows finer shaping.
Because the fat is removed in good condition, it can also be used for fat transfer to another area, such as the buttocks or breasts.
Who is it for?
It suits healthy adults near their ideal weight with firm or fibrous fat, or those wanting a more defined, athletic shape.
- Abdomen, waist and flanks
- Back and bra-line fat
- Male chest and fibrous areas
- Patients also planning fat transfer
How the procedure is done
Your surgeon examines you in person and marks the areas. Tumescent fluid is injected, then the ultrasound probe is passed through the fat layer to loosen it.
The fat is suctioned out with fine cannulas and the area is shaped evenly. A compression garment is put on at the end. Your hotel, VIP transfers and a medical interpreter are arranged before you land in Istanbul, and a personal coordinator stays with you throughout.
Recovery and results
Swelling and bruising are expected for 1 to 2 weeks. You will walk on the first day and wear compression for about 4 to 6 weeks. Lymphatic massage may be recommended to help swelling settle.
Most patients return to desk work within a week and to exercise after 3 to 4 weeks. The final shape appears over 3 to 6 months.
Drinking plenty of water, walking daily and wearing the garment as advised all help swelling settle evenly. Avoid saunas and hot baths for the first weeks. After you return home, your coordinator keeps in touch and progress photos can be reviewed during the first year.
Vaser for body definition and fat transfer
Because Vaser allows precise, layered fat removal, it is often chosen when patients want more than simple reduction. Surgeons use it to define the waist, smooth the back and bra line, and contour the male chest.
The fat removed is usually in good condition. If you are also planning a Brazilian butt lift, a breast fat transfer or facial fat grafting, this fat can be purified and reinjected in the same operation.
Preparation is straightforward. You will have blood tests and a medical review, and you should be at a stable weight. Your package includes pre-operative tests, one night in hospital, medication, a compression garment, four hotel nights with breakfast, VIP transfers, a final check-up and one year of WhatsApp follow-up.
- Waist and flank definition
- Back and bra-line smoothing
- Fat harvesting for transfer
Risks and safety
Risks are similar to standard liposuction: swelling, bruising, numbness, fluid collection, uneven contours and infection. Ultrasound energy also carries a small risk of skin or tissue burns, which careful technique helps prevent.
Vaser does not remove large amounts of loose skin. A doctor assesses your suitability in person and explains whether Vaser is the right option for you.
Recovery timeline
- Day 1Compression garment, walking
- Week 1Check-up, back to desk work
- Week 3-4Light exercise resumes
- Week 6Compression usually stopped
- Month 3-6Final contour
Frequently asked questions
What is the difference between Vaser and standard liposuction?
Vaser uses ultrasound to loosen fat before suction, which can make removal gentler and shaping more precise. Standard liposuction removes fat mechanically without this step.
Can Vaser fat be used for fat transfer?
Yes, fat removed with Vaser can be prepared and reinjected, for example in the buttocks or breasts.
Is Vaser liposuction suitable for men?
Yes, it is often used for the male chest, flanks and abdomen, where fat can be more fibrous.
Do I need massage after Vaser liposuction?
Lymphatic drainage massage is often recommended in the first weeks to help swelling settle, but your surgeon will advise based on your case.
