Laminate veneers in Istanbul

Laminate veneers are very thin ceramic shells bonded to the front of the teeth. They improve shape and colour while keeping as much natural tooth as possible.

Short answer

Laminate veneers are ultra-thin ceramic shells, often around 0.3 to 0.5 mm, bonded to the front surface of the teeth with little or no enamel removal. Treatment usually takes 5 to 7 days in Istanbul with local anaesthesia if needed. Most patients return to normal routines the same or next day.

What are laminate veneers?

Laminate veneers are a minimal-preparation type of veneer. They are made from thin, strong ceramic and bonded to the front of the tooth to change its colour, shape or length.

Because they are so thin, the dentist usually removes very little enamel, and sometimes none at all. This makes them a conservative choice when the natural teeth are in good condition.

Who is it for?

Laminate veneers suit people with healthy, fairly well-aligned teeth who want a cosmetic change rather than a structural repair. A dentist confirms suitability in person.

  • Mild discolouration that whitening cannot fix
  • Small chips, gaps or uneven edges
  • Teeth that look slightly short or worn
  • Patients who want to keep as much enamel as possible

How the procedure is done

Treatment usually takes 5 to 7 days in Istanbul. It starts with an examination, a panoramic X-ray and Digital Smile Design. A mock-up can show how the veneers will look before any work is done.

The dentist lightly polishes or prepares the front of each tooth, often without needing local anaesthesia. Scans or impressions go to the laboratory, which makes each veneer to your approved design. At the final appointment the veneers are checked and bonded in place.

Metropolmed's own dental team carries out your treatment in Istanbul. Our TÜRSAB-licensed travel division (licence 13032) books your hotel, and your hotel, VIP transfer and medical interpreter are arranged before you land. A personal coordinator and 12 months of follow-up are included.

Recovery and results

Recovery is quick, and most people return to normal routines the same or next day. Some mild sensitivity is possible for a few days. With good care, laminate veneers typically last 10 to 15 years.

Before you fly home, your dentist checks how the veneers meet when you bite and makes any small adjustments. Your coordinator stays in touch for 12 months in case you have questions, and routine check-ups can be done by your local dentist.

Caring for laminate veneers

Laminate veneers need the same daily care as natural teeth. They do not decay, but the tooth underneath and the gum around it still can, so good hygiene protects the result.

  • Brush twice a day with a soft brush and non-abrasive toothpaste
  • Floss or use interdental brushes daily
  • Avoid biting nails, pens, ice or nut shells
  • Wear a night guard if you grind
  • See your dentist for a check-up and clean every six months
  • Contact us if a veneer feels rough, loose or sharp

Risks and safety

Laminate veneers are not suitable for every case. Very dark staining, crooked teeth or heavy grinding may need thicker veneers, crowns or orthodontic treatment first. Possible issues include a veneer chipping or coming loose, which can usually be repaired or replaced.

Even minimal preparation means the change may not be fully reversible. A dentist assesses your teeth in person and explains the options. Metropolmed holds the Turkish Ministry of Health international patient authorisation (USHAŞ AK-0164).

Frequently asked questions

How thin are laminate veneers?

They are typically around 0.3 to 0.5 mm thick, about the thickness of a contact lens. This allows very little enamel to be removed.

Do laminate veneers need anaesthesia?

Often not, because preparation is minimal. Local anaesthesia is used if you feel any discomfort or if more shaping is needed.

Can laminate veneers cover very dark teeth?

Not always, because thin ceramic lets some underlying colour show through. Thicker veneers or crowns may be advised for heavy discolouration.

What is the difference between laminate and porcelain veneers?

Laminate veneers are a thinner, minimal-preparation type of ceramic veneer. Standard porcelain veneers are slightly thicker and can mask more colour or reshape teeth further.
