Short answer
All-on-4 is a full-arch treatment that fixes a complete set of upper or lower teeth onto four dental implants, two straight at the front and two angled at the back. Treatment usually takes two visits to Istanbul: about 4 to 6 days for implants and fixed temporary teeth, then 5 to 7 days for the final bridge 3 to 6 months later. Most people return to light routines within 3 to 5 days.
What is All-on-4?
All-on-4 is a way to replace all the teeth in one jaw using just four implants. The two back implants are placed at an angle, which uses more of the available bone and often avoids the need for bone grafting.
A full-arch bridge is screwed onto the implants. It stays fixed in the mouth and is only removed by the dentist for check-ups and cleaning.
Who is it for?
All-on-4 suits people who have lost most or all of their teeth in one jaw, or whose remaining teeth cannot be saved. A dentist reviews your 3D scan and health in person.
- Full dentures that are loose or uncomfortable
- Many failing or heavily decayed teeth
- Advanced gum disease with loose teeth
- Bone loss that rules out many single implants
How the procedure is done
The first visit usually takes 4 to 6 days. After an examination and 3D tomography, your dentist plans the implant positions digitally. Any remaining teeth are removed and the four implants are placed under local anaesthesia, with sedation if you prefer.
Within a few days, fixed temporary teeth are attached so you do not leave without teeth. After 3 to 6 months of healing, you return for 5 to 7 days to have your final bridge made and fitted.
Metropolmed's own dental team carries out your treatment in Istanbul. Our TÜRSAB-licensed travel division (licence 13032) books your hotel, and your hotel, VIP transfer and medical interpreter are arranged before you land. A personal coordinator and 12 months of follow-up are included.
Recovery and results
Swelling and bruising usually peak at day 2 or 3 and fade within a week. Most people return to light routines within 3 to 5 days. A soft diet is needed for the first weeks while the implants heal.
With good cleaning and regular check-ups, the implants can last 20 years or more. The bridge typically lasts 10 to 15 years before it may need renewing.

Risks and safety
Implant surgery is a routine procedure, but it carries risks. These include swelling, bruising, infection, bleeding, temporary numbness from nerve irritation and, in some cases, an implant that does not bond with the bone and needs replacing. Smoking, uncontrolled diabetes and gum disease raise the risk. Because one bridge relies on four implants, losing one implant can affect the whole arch until it is replaced.
Grinding can wear or crack the bridge, and cleaning under it needs care. A dentist assesses suitability in person and discusses whether All-on-4 or All-on-6 suits you. Metropolmed holds the Turkish Ministry of Health international patient authorisation (USHAŞ AK-0164).

Frequently asked questions
Will I leave Istanbul with teeth after the first visit?
Yes, in most cases fixed temporary teeth are attached within a few days of surgery. You wear them until your final bridge is fitted on the second visit.
Why are the back implants placed at an angle?
Angling the back implants uses more of the available bone and avoids nerves and sinuses. This often removes the need for bone grafting.
Can I take the All-on-4 bridge out?
No, the bridge is fixed to the implants and only the dentist removes it. You clean it daily with a brush, floss threader or water flosser.
What can I eat with temporary All-on-4 teeth?
Stick to soft foods for the first weeks, such as eggs, fish, pasta and cooked vegetables. Your dentist tells you when firmer foods are safe.
Is All-on-4 suitable if I have bone loss?
Often yes, because the angled implants use the strongest bone. Severe bone loss may need grafting or a different plan, which the 3D scan will show.
